An anticyclone brings mainly settled conditions to New Zealand on Tuesday however conditions may become unstable in the afternoon for the upper North Island.

A mix of sun and cloud for the upper North Island, may be a shower about especially about the Bay Of Plenty and Coromandel in the morning. In the afternoon / evening showers may become heavy with thunderstorms then clearing later on, especially for inland areas. Light winds and afternoon sea breezes.

Mostly sunny with east to southeasterly winds for the lower western North Island. A mix of sun and cloud along the east coast with southerlies tending easterly in the afternoon. Mostly sunny in Wellington after any morning cloud clears, southeasterly winds.

Mostly sunny for the top of the South Island with east to southeasterly winds, afternoon northerlies for Nelson. There may be an isolated shower late afternoon / evening about inland Tasman. Mostly sunny for Canterbury with light winds and afternoon sea breezes, some cloud inland about the ranges late afternoon / evening brings the risk of an isolated shower otherwise mainly dry.

A mix of sun and cloud along the West Coast, chance of an isolated shower late afternoon / evening inland about the ranges, especially Buller. Light winds and afternoon sea breezes. Any morning cloud clears Southland and Otago then mostly sunny with light winds, afternoon sea breezes.

Blue – Heavy form of precipitation – or – low temperatures, typically below 1 to 2 degrees celsius.
White – Snow
Purple – Strong winds.
Yellow – Temperatures around the mid 20 degree mark or over.
