Anticyclonic conditions for most on Tuesday although weak low pressure lies over the upper North Island.

Sunny spells for the upper North Island, there may be a touch of fog to start the day about the Waikato, a few late afternoon isolated showers then clearing in the evening. Showers may become heavy with thunderstorms for southern parts of Auckland and the Waikato. Northland has a mainly dry day with areas of sun and a few clouds. Light east to northeasterly winds for most.

Sunny areas and some high cloud for the lower North Island in the west, a few showers may move into northern parts of Taranaki and the Central North Island in the evening. East to southeasterly winds.

Mostly cloudy about the east coast, some drizzle in the morning mainly about the Wairarapa then clearing away. Areas of rain push into Gisborne during the afternoon then moving into Hawkes Bay during the evening. Overnight rain may become heavy about Gisborne. Southerly winds tend east to northeast in the afternoon.

Morning drizzle clears about Wellington then cloud breaks to sunny spells in the afternoon, southeasterly winds.

Morning cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather about Nelson and Marlborough, light winds tend east to northeast in the afternoon. Morning cloud breaks to sunny spells for Canterbury, east to northeasterly winds.

Mainly sunny with light winds along the West Coast, there may be some cloud and a drizzle patch or two about Fiordland.

Mostly sunny with some high cloud about Southland and Otago, light northwesterly winds inland while northeasterlies are about the Otago coast. Temperatures reaching into the mid 20’s inland during the afternoon.

Blue – Heavy form of precipitation.
Purple – Strong winds.
Yellow – Temperatures around the mid 20 degree mark or over.
