A southwesterly airflow lies over New Zealand on Thursday, moving around the outside of a large high which sits in the Tasman Sea.
A mix of sun and cloud for Northland and Auckland, chance of a shower or two about also any of which clear in the evening as southwesterly winds tend southerly. The Waikato and Bay Of Plenty is mainly sunny.
Any morning cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather for the lower North Island in the west, south to southeasterly winds. Cloudy areas along the east coast with the odd shower, mainly just on the coastal fringes. Winds fresh and cool from the southwest.
Morning cloud breaks about Marlborough and Nelson to mostly sunny weather, southeasterly winds. Light afternoon northerlies about Nelson. There may be an isolated shower about Tasman in the afternoon otherwise mainly dry.
Any early showers clear about Canterbury, morning cloud breaks to sunny spells with breezy southwesterly winds easing later in the day. Morning cloud about Southland and Otago breaks to mostly sunny weather, a cool start in the morning.
Mainly sunny weather along the West Coast, some cloud about Buller.
Blue – Heavy form of precipitation.
Purple – Strong winds.
Yellow – Temperatures around the mid 20 degree mark or over.
