InfoGraphic: The Big Picture on Thursday

> From the WeatherWatch archives

For the most part we have a large but weak area of high pressure over New Zealand on Thursday however a low centred just west of the country directs a front over the North Island during the day. This low and front will weaken as the day goes on.

For much of the North Island in the west expect areas of morning rain then easing to showers, showers clear in the evening for many however some may not clear till overnight. Winds from the north.

Rain about Wellington may be heavy to start however it then eases during the morning. The east coast of the North Island sees morning spots of rain clear to mostly sunny weather, further showers possible late afternoon or evening however.

For the South Island early heavy rain eases about Nelson / Marlborough to showers which then clear in the evening. A few early showers for the West Coast then becoming mostly sunny, warm afternoon temperatures getting into the low or perhaps even mid 20’s.

Canterbury sees early rain ease to showers which clear during the afternoon although the odd one may linger till evening. Morning cloud breaks to a mostly sunny afternoon about Southland and Otago.

Not all regions and towns have been mentioned above. For specific 10 day information for your city, town, rural community or island please see the 1500 forecasts on our homepage!
