A north to northeasterly airflow gradually develops over New Zealand on Thursday as a low pressure system brews in the Tasman Sea. Northeasterlies picking up later in the day about the lower South Island.

For the North Island it’s a mix of sun and high cloud for most, cloudier skies for the lower North Island in the west. Onshore breezes for most tending northerly overnight.

The South Island is pretty much exactly as stated in the graphic below. Northeasterlies about coastal Fiordland may gust to gale overnight.
