A strong southwesterly airflow gradually eases during the day on Monday.

For the western North Island expect mostly cloudy skies and showers at times, winds strong from the southwest gusting to gale in the morning then gradually easing during the day. The Bay Of Plenty sees some sun break through at times. Along the east coast conditions are sunnier with westerly winds, a few showers push into the Wairarapa in the afternoon.

Showers along the West Coast of the South Island ease during the day, some sun may break through in the afternoon. Mostly sunny about Nelson and Marlborough with a touch of high cloud, afternoon high’s reaching into the mid to late teens.

Canterbury is sunny at first then southerlies freshen towards midday bringing increasing cloud. Showers about Southland and Otago ease during the day, dry spells increasing from afternoon. Winds strong from the southwest especially about coastal areas then easing later in the day.

Blue – Heavy form of precipitation – or – low temperatures, typically below 1 to 2 degrees celsius.
White – Snow
Purple – Strong winds.
Yellow – Temperatures around the mid 20 degree mark or over.
