A low pressure system situated around central New Zealand tomorrow bring a southwesterly airflow to the South Island while a front passes over the North Island from west to east.

For the upper and western North Island expect rain to develop late morning then easing to showers and sunny spells in the afternoon as notherly winds change westerly.

Thick high cloud for the east coast (Gisborne to Wairarapa), a few spots of rain spread from the west at times during the afternoon, northerlies tend to the northwest by evening.

Morning rain about Nelson and Marlborough eases, some sun possible then late afternoon or evening as southerlies push in expect further rain. The West Coast sees rain ease to showers in the morning which clear by evening as southerlies move in.

Rain about Otago eases to showers in the morning then clears around midday with sun breaking through. Rain for South Canterbury pushes into North Canterbury early afternoon with a southwest change, strong about the coast. Rain eases in the evening.

Southland sees early rain or showers clear then expect sunny spells with west to southwest winds.
