Still mostly high pressure on Friday although it will gradually weaken during the day as a northwesterly airflow builds over the lower South Island.

Sunny spells and increasing cloud for the upper North Island, chance of a shower from afternoon. Southwesterly winds. Mostly sunny with a few areas of cloud at times (mainly morning) about the lower western North Island. Light winds for most although coastal Taranaki sees southwesterlies pick up in the afternoon.

Any morning cloud breaks away along the east coast then mainly sunny with light winds in the morning, afternoon sea breezes. Mostly sunny for Wellington with northerly winds.

Sunny with light winds in the morning about Nelson and Marlborough, afternoon north to northeast breezes. Mostly sunny with a touch of high cloud from afternoon in Canterbury, east to northeasterly winds for most although inland about the foothills winds are light and temperatures warm.

Mostly sunny with some developing high cloud along the West Coast, rain moves into Fiordland in the evening. Warm afternoon temperatures about inland Buller. Westerly winds. Mostly sunny with some increasing high cloud about the lower South Island, may be a spot of evening rain for Southland. Widespread rain overnight for Southland with a southwest change. Coastal Otago sees northeasterly winds.

Blue – Heavy form of precipitation – or – low temperatures, typically below 1 to 2 degrees celsius.
White – Snow
Purple – Strong winds.
Yellow – Temperatures around the mid 20 degree mark or over.
