Anticyclonic conditions on Friday with a cold southwesterly airflow over New Zealand especially in the east easing away.

A mix of sun and cloud for the upper North Island, any showers about Auckland and Northland clear in the morning. Fresh southwesterly winds ease at night.

Morning cloud with the chance of a shower about the lower North Island in the west then breaking to mostly sunny weather, southwesterly winds die out in the evening.

About the eastern North Island expect a mix of sun and cloud, chance of a shower or two also right on the coastal fringe. Fresh southwesterlies ease in the evening.

A few morning showers clear Wellington then cloud breaks to sunny spells, gusty southerlies die out later in the evening.

Sunny with light winds about Marlborough and Nelson, perhaps tending east to northeast in the afternoon. Becoming mostly sunny in the morning for Canterbury, southwesterly winds about the coast ease then die out later on.

A sunny clear day along the West Coast with light winds. Cloudy areas about Southland, the odd shower possible at times. Otago has a mainly sunny day after any early showers clear. West to southwesterly winds, breezy about the coast.

Blue – Heavy form of precipitation.
Purple – Strong winds.
Yellow – Temperatures around the mid 20 degree mark or over.
