A ridge brings mainly settled conditions to New Zealand on Friday, a weak front brings cloud and a few showers just north of Auckland however.
Northland sees mainly cloudy skies with a few showers in the east spreading elsewhere during the afternoon. Cloudy periods about Auckland, a few showers possible later in the evening or overnight. Mainly sunny about Waikato and the Bay Of Plenty. East to northeasterly winds.
Any early cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather for the lower North Island in the west, southeasterlies die out about Taranaki around midday. Light winds elsewhere tend westerly in the afternoon.
Any morning cloud about the east coast of the North Island with the chance of a shower clearing then becoming mostly sunny by midday, light southwest winds die out in the afternoon.
Sunny with light southerlies tending northerly by midday about Wellington.
Sunny with light winds tending northerly in the afternoon for Marlborough and Nelson. Mainly sunny with light winds in Canterbury. A mix of sun and cloud for the West Coast, cloud a little more persistent about Buller with the chance of a shower. Light winds.
Sunny spells about Southland, mostly sunny elsewhere in Otago. West to northwesterly winds.
Blue – Heavy form of precipitation.
Purple – Strong winds.
Yellow – Temperatures around the mid 20 degree mark or over.
