A front pushes over the country on Friday moving from west to east, the front will clear the South Island in the afternoon however doesn’t clear the North Island till overnight. Northerlies ahead of the front then tending northwest in behind.

Mainly cloudy skies for the North Island tomorrow, rain moves into most regions out west by late morning then easing in the evening as northerlies change west to northwest. The east coast of the North Island sees thick high cloud, scattered rain from afternoon then clearing later on.

The South Island sees rain in the west, heavy falls at times and thunderstorms possible too. After morning spits of rain clear in the east it’s mainly sunny day however northwesterly winds will be gusty / strong.
