A cold front moves over the North Island today however it will weaken as it moves northwards. A west to southwesterly airflow lies over the South Island. Fairly anticyclonic on Saturday with a weakening southwesterly airflow.
A few showers for much of the western North Island today, a few showers develop about Wairarapa in the morning then a few may reach Hawkes Bay in the afternoon otherwise staying mainly dry. Gisborne has a mainly sunny and dry day. Cloudy periods for the West Coast of the South Island, risk of a shower at times especially for Fiordland and perhaps Buller. A fairly dry day in the east but there could be a clearing shower about Marlborough in the morning. Coastal Southland sees the odd shower at times in a westerly airflow.
Showers about Northland ease clearing in the afternoon, a mix of sun and cloud for most other regions. Gisborne could see a morning shower or two. Some cloud for the West Coast of the South Island, the odd light shower about Fiordland then mainly sunny in the east.
