Anticyclonic conditions brings mainly settled weather for the South Island today and on Saturday, southeasterlies for the North Island bring rain in the east and the chance of a shower out west.

Rain may still be heavy at times along the east coast of the North Island today. Drier out west however there may be a shower late afternoon / evening. The South Island is mainly sunny however expect some cloud Banks Peninsula northwards in the east. Morning frosts likely about the inner South Island.

Rain for the eastern North Island eases to showers in the afternoon, sunnier conditions out west however an isolated shower may spring up about southern Auckland, Waikato and Bay Of Plenty late afternoon / evening. The South Island has mostly sunny weather, some cloud develops about South Westland late afternoon / evening.
