InfoGraphic: Saturday and Easter Sunday

> From the WeatherWatch archives

High pressure dominates overall this weekend but a cold front on Saturday will see wind and rain in the South Island and later cloud and showers in the North Island with winds picking up through Cook Strait.

However by the time we reach Easter Sunday that front should have mostly fallen apart and high pressure returns to settle things down. A bit like Good Friday morning there may be just a couple of leftover showers in the upper North Island and some morning cloud but conditions will be calm and mainly dry with mild weather into the afternoons nationwide.

  • Rain will be heaviest on Saturday on the West Coast.
  • Coolest change is in Southland and Otago on Saturday with a cold morning inland through the South Island on Sunday.
  • Most settled day is Sunday nationwide
  • Sunniest and warmest weather will be in the east and very north of both islands on Saturday and Sunday
  • Windiest weather will be in Southland, Otago, the Southern Alps and around Cook Strait
