A low in the Southern Ocean is brushing near the South Island on Tuesday sending a cold front up the West Coast and helping create windier nor’westers ahead of it.
The east of the North Island will be hottest with highs over 25 degrees and even approaching closer to 30.
Rain will be heaviest on the West Coast on Tuesday.
