It’s been humid right over New Zealand these past two days – with even our well known dry spots like Canterbury and Hawkes Bay getting muggy conditions.
To some Auckland has been unbearable the past few days with frizzy hair and restless nights. Even last night at 10pm it was still 20 degrees in Auckland with high humidity making it feel like the mid 20s.
The high humidity and unstable conditions led to numerous thunderstorms over New Zealand, mostly about Waikato and Central Otago.
But that is all about to change. Overnight the low responsible for bringing the humid weather crossed over Auckland City and behind it is a drier, cooler, sou’westerly.
Humidity levels will drop, sleeping should be more comfortable for many, however some places may see a significant drop in temperatures.
In fact Wellington and eastern regions of both islands are in for cold south to south winds winds this weekend. Wellington’s high on Saturday is just 14 with rain and southerlies.
WeatherWatch.co.nz predicts the rest of January will remain largely unsettled for New Zealand as a whole.
