VIDEO: Huge high pressure belt means dry weather ahead

> From the WeatherWatch archives

If you need rain in NZ then the news isn’t great. NZ and Australia both have a lot of high pressure to contend with in the coming weeks, but it’s NZ that looks to be driest – especially for those in the east of both main islands that need it the most.

High pressure from Aussie will keep much of NZ dry while this same air pressure system will feed plenty of showers into eastern Australia – as far north as Cairns and as far south as Sydney. Next week another high in the Great Australian Bight is slowly tracking eastwards.
