February is the hottest month of the year and temperatures up north recently have certainly climbed pretty much to where they should be in regards to average daytime highs however it seems a few southerners are disgruntled as the cool and some cloudy weather isn’t anything like what the last month of summer should contain.
We’ve certainly had concerns that summer took quite a bit of time to get off the ground and that the Xmas and New Year break was ordinary over tne upper North Island.
Down south and the same timeframe delivered endless sunny days and hot weather to inland areas which was a delight for holidaymakers in the region.
So all in all so far the summer months seemed to have been a mixed bag and as we get close to the first full 2 weeks of February how would you rate it yp until this point?.
Has it been sunny or cloudy perhaps even a little breezy and occasionally showery?.
If you’re in a rural are do you need some rain or have you had enough and need some sunshine?.
We’d like to hear your take on the month so far so feel free to add your comments…

This last week in Auckland it’s almost seemed like summer, with three nice days in a row. Can’t remember when that last happened! Probably the best week of the season so far, and given that it’s still mostly been cool, cloudy and windy, that’s a very poor reflection on the rest of the summer.

Very cloudy, windy and cool month so far in the Christchurch region. Well below expectations for this time of year.

Worst summer in years in Auckland. Unusually cold, cloudy and raining every weekend! Can we please take a rain check!

The weather has been rubbish in Christchurch this month. Cloudy and cool. Bring back the Christmas / New Year conditions when half the country was warm and sunny or crank up the season changing NWs early.

Took the Labradors to the beach this morning and despite it being a beautiful sunrise I thought it was rather cool for the time of year.
Of note so far is the lack of Sicaeda song coming from the bush.
Had the fan on yesterday as it warmed up but around 7pm decided it was time to shut the windows and turn the thing off, too cool.
Roll on Autumn.
Cheers.

So far for Ch’ch and Wellington – among other places – its has been cool and very cloudy (today fine here in W’gton however). The summer sunshine total in W’gton is still a possible candidate for a record low (105 years of data).

Here in rural lower Northland a day or night of steady rain would be very welcome.
Fifteen days since rain of any significance has fallen. This February has been pretty much normal for time of year. Temperatures during the day quite pleasant, certainly better than the scorchers we had last year.
Cheers Steve
