Today will work out much like last night’s article suggested – click here. Sunny areas and some cloud about the upper North Island with easterlies, hot and warm for the lower North Island and upper South Island. The lower South Island is fairly cloudy with northerly quarter winds, a little more rain is now expected about Southland today however.
Tomorrow sees cloudy areas about the upper North Island with humid easterlies, drizzle patches about many eastern areas with Auckland potentially having long dry spells and areas of drizzle more likely about northern parts of the city. Sunny areas and some cloud for the lower North Island with warm temperatures again.
Rain eases on the West Coast of the South Island, mainly cloudy with northerlies. A few spots of
morning rain possible about Nelson, sunny spells break through later in the
afternoon. High cloud for much of the day about Marlborough, high cloud clears
Canterbury in the afternoon with hot temperatures developing. About the lower
South Island morning thick high cloud and any spots of rain clear, winds tend
southerly or southwesterly in the afternoon with periods of cloud moving
in.
Fairly cloudy over much of the North Island on Wednesday, humid
easterlies and patchy rain or drizzle especially about exposed eastern regions.
Mainly the Wairarapa and southwestern corner of the island remain dry with very
warm temperatures likely for some inland. The South Island looks to have mostly
sunny weather due to a ridge of high pressure, there may be the usual areas of
morning cloud about which should burn away.
On Thursday the flow tends more southeasterly over the North Island. So cloudy skies along the east coast
can be expected with drizzle patches, areas of cloud and the odd light shower
may also clip the Coromandel and eastern Northland during the day. Elsewhere
expect sunny spells, a few isolated showers may pop up in the afternoon about
the Waikato and northern Taranaki.
The South Island is looking sunny with hot temperatures for inland areas after any morning cloud burns away, afternoon sea breezes for coastal parts may bring slightly cooler temperatures. Expect
some late high cloud for the likes of Southland and Otago.
A ridge gets more in control on Friday over the North Island so many regions should expect a
good day with light winds and afternoon sea breezes. Northerlies will build
about Wellington however and some areas north of the Central North Island will
have the low risk of a late afternoon isolated shower, generally about hills and
ranges.
A north to northwesterly airflow increases over the South Island,
some high cloud moves in along the east coast with cloud and late rain on the
West Coast. A southwest change moves into Southland and Otago later in the day
bringing showers also. Temperatures could be quite hot about eastern regions in
the afternoon, especially inland.
A southwesterly windflow moves in over the country to start the weekend on Saturday but at this stage it is looking
fairly dry, rain clears on the West Coast of the South Island and only later in
the day some drizzle may move into eastern regions.
