Hints of summer in the air

> From the WeatherWatch archives

There are signs that summer is approaching, even if the overall weather lately has been very much spring-like.

WeatherWatch.co.nz says yesterday’s high of 31 degrees at Hanmer Springs is a sign that the heat is arriving.

Many WeatherWatch.co.nz readers commented yesterday on “summer like” conditions right across the country as the winds finally died out and the sun shone.

The long range weather maps are also showing what looks like a gradual easing of the stormy conditions of late.

While strong winds are predicted at times over the next two weeks, the highs are looking as though they’re going to have a bit more dominance over New Zealand.

The windy weather lately has been due to most highs remaining over the Tasman Sea or just north of the country.

WeatherWatch.co.nz says a late start to summer doesn’t mean a short one.
