Heavy showers; thunderstorms for some – #WeatherRisks on Wednesday

> From the WeatherWatch archives

A low pressure system to the east of the South Island is pushing a strong southwesterly airflow over much of the country, meaning there’s some wet weather on the way in the west!

Heavy showers are moving in from the west in the afternoon, mainly for western parts of the North Island, which also bring with them a risk of thunderstorms too.
Anywhere from Taranaki northwards, and right through to the Bay of Plenty could be in for some thunder and lightning, as well as up to Northland too.

Conditions look fairly unstable, but the chance of a thunderstorm or two is definitely there – so keep an eye and ear out, and let us know if there’s any action in the skies at your place – you can get to us on Twitter or Facebook.

An awesome anvil & cloud bank moving slowly up the Manukau Harbour!

Yay, the sunshine is lovely and the butterflies happy.
