A slow moving band of heavy rain looks set to bring very wet conditions to the South Island’s West Coast this weekend.
Government forecaster MetService is indicating rain warnings will likely be issued this weekend.
“A frontal rain band is expected to lie slow-moving over South Westland and Fiordland on Thursday and Friday, before moving further north through the remainder of Westland and possibly Buller over the weekend” says their Severe Weather Outlook.
“There is some uncertainity about the exact movement of this front, however it is likely that persistent rain will bring some significant falls to parts of South Westland and Fiordland from Thursday through to Saturday, with a lower risk of heavy rain about the remainder of Westland and southern Buller over the weekend”.
Heavy rain warnings are today in force for Westland, Buller, Fiordland the Southern Lakes and parts of Southland.
