Very warm temperatures are seeing some cloud build ups, as heat and humidity combine in making it a sticky afternoon for many North Islanders.
Temperatures are already in the 30s in some eastern areas and although that magic number hasn’t been hit in a number of northern regions, the humidity is making it feel rather uncomfortable.
The Government forecaster has a warning out this afternoon for a few central North island regions with the possibility of heavy downpours with rainfall rates between 25-40mm per hour.
Further south across the mainland, conditions are much more comfy and a little cooler than normal in the deep south.

I’m in Auckland, North Shore – I see the metservice has issued a ‘severe thunderstorm warning’ for this evening. What do you think?

There is still the potential for some isolated heavy downpours tonight for Auckland. We’re keeping a close eye on events and todays humidity made the official high of 28 feel much hotter as well!
Cheers
