New Zealand’s location on earth means that our weather can often be chaotic – this map shows where the spring westerlies lie and how New Zealand (and a sizeable chunk of Australia) is under this easterly flow today, Thursday.
The winds in NZ are mostly East to South East – with westerlies just to our north and well south.
By the end of next week westerlies return to many places in New Zealand and the easterlies ease.
