> From the WeatherWatch archives
The forecast gales have arrived in Auckland with intense winds starting around 1:30am and have been surging off and on ever since.
Power outages are expected to continue due to branches and trees down as winds reach gale force at times and gust over 120km/h.
While other forecasters were sleeping, we've been updating #Auckland since 2am. Here's our latest update as we approach #7AM.

We are exposed to westerlies and these are the strongest in a very long time. Hard to sleep and had to get up and secure a window, 4.30am and intensity is dropping last 30 minutes.

Did you notice the lightning? Horrible flashes for a long time with whistling windows.
