Today will be an unsettled today especially in western facing regions as at least 3 fronts move up the country. The frontal systems are relatively weak and will fracture in half as they move up the South Island’s Southern Alps, sending a band of light rain or showers up the east coast and slightly heavier rain or showers along the west coast.
The fronts should reach Auckland this afternoon or evening with showers and patchy rain expected.
It should be a relatively mild day today with mostly light west to north west winds with a cooler change expected tomorrow when the wind direction generally changes to a south westerly.
A large high is developing over eastern Australia is predicted to move eastwards towards the country as the week progresses.
Rainfall isn’t predicted to be very high for most populated places as the fronts slowly roll through today, as the early spring weather continues.
