Friday’s national forecast – Mainly settled again

An anticyclone covers New Zealand today bringing mainly settled weather, there are a few showers north of Coromandel in the east and moving into Gisborne. The South Island also sees a few showers pushing into South Westland.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
A mix of sun and cloud for Northland and Auckland, a few showers at times in the east Coromandel northwards. Waikato and Bay Of Plenty experiences a mostly sunny day, a few clouds at times. East to southeasterly winds.
Highs: 18-21

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly sunny, a cold start about the Central Plateau. Morning fog or mist possible then breaking away. Southeasterly winds.
Highs: 14-18

Eastern North Island

A mix of sun and cloud with light southerlies, tending northeast in the afternoon. Gisborne has the odd shower at times with southeasterlies.
Highs: 16-17

Wellington

Sunny weather, light winds.
Highs: 16-17

Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny, any morning cloud, mist, or fog clears. Light afternoon easterlies for Marlborough, afternoon northerlies for Nelson.
Highs: 16-17

Canterbury

Sunny with any morning mist or fog clearing, light winds tend east to northeast in the afternoon across the plains.
Highs: 15-17

West Coast

A mix of sun and cloud, morning fog for inland Buller. A shower or two possible along the coastal fringe south of about Haast. Light winds.
Highs: 16-18

Southland & Otago
Mostly sunny, early mist or fog possible then clearing. Morning cloud for coastal Otago breaks away. Light winds.
Highs: 15-16
