A large high pressure system sits over the country today bringing mainly settled weather, some rain for the eastern North Island though.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Mostly sunny, high cloud increases from afternoon, chance of a shower later in the day. Light morning southeasterlies then afternoon sea breezes.
Highs: 22-24

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
A mix of sun and cloud, cloud thickens up a little about inland areas from afternoon. East to southeasterly winds. Afternoon sea breezes for northern Taranaki.
Highs: 18-23

Eastern North Island

Morning rain eases to showers, sunny spells may break through from afternoon. Wairarapa is dry. Southeasterlies tend east to northeast after midday.
Highs: 19-20

Wellington

Morning cloud then mostly sunny, light winds.
Highs: 22-23

Marlborough & Nelson

Any morning cloud clears then mostly sunny, afternoon sea breezes.
Highs: 20-21

Canterbury

Partly cloudy, chance of a coastal shower otherwise mainly dry. East to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 19-21

West Coast

Partly cloudy with any morning showers clearing, west to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 18-21

Southland & Otago
Partly cloudy, a few coastal mornings showers for Southland clear. Light winds tend onshore in the afternoon.
Highs: 18-21
