A southeasterly airflow over the North Island gradually eases today, winds may be strong in some spots this morning though. Rain in the east, showers out west clear by midday. The South Island has mostly sunny weather in the west, a few light showers in the east.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Morning showers clear, remaining mostly cloudy but some sun may break through from afternoon. Breezy south to southeasterly winds gradually ease during the day.
Highs: 15-17
Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Morning showers then clearing, remaining mostly cloudy. Breezy southeasterly winds, gales about the coast then easing from afternoon.
Highs: 6-13
Eastern North Island
Showers for Wairarapa. Rain further north (possibly heavy), easing from afternoon. Snow flurries to 600m in the ranges south of Napier, above 800m further north. Gusty south to southeasterly winds.
Highs: 9-13
Wellington
Cloudy with a shower or two, gusty south to southeasterly winds gradually ease.
Highs: 9-10
Marlborough & Nelson
Cloudy for Marlborough with light showers clearing in the afternoon. Nelson has morning cloud then afternoon sun breaks through. Southeasterly winds, gusty about the Sounds and Golden Bay.
Highs: 10-14
Canterbury
A few showers, clearing near the coast in the afternoon then inland in the evening. A few light snow flurries possible to 400m. South to southeasterly winds.
Highs: 8-9
West Coast
Sunny, some cloud and a few showers creeps into Buller in the afternoon then southwards into North Westland in the evening. Southeasterly winds.
Highs: 12-14
Southland & Otago
Sunny spells gradually increase during the day, coastal Otago sees a few light showers in the morning, some sun later in the day before dusk. East to southeasterly winds.
