A cold front pushes over the North Island this morning then moves offshore this afternoon, expect a west to southwesterly airflow in its wake.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Partly cloudy, a few showers from Waikato up through to Northland, mainly in the west, thinning out in the afternoon and drying out. Southwesterly winds.
Highs: 15-17

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
A few morning showers then clearing, sunny areas increase from afternoon with southwesterlies tending northwest.
Highs: 8-15

Eastern North Island

Morning showers then sunny areas increase from afternoon with southwesterlies easing and dying away.
Highs: 13-14

Wellington

Early showers clear, becoming sunny by midday with southerly winds dying out.
Highs: 13-14

Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny for Nelson with west to southwesterly winds. Morning cloud for Marlborough clears to a sunny day, light winds.
Highs: 10-13

Canterbury

Sunny with light northwesterlies.
Highs: 5-13

West Coast

Mostly cloudy with showers, Greymouth through to Haast may be dry in the morning with some sun then a few showers move in from afternoon. Snow flurries to 400m in the morning for Fiordland then lifting during the day. Southwesterly winds.
Highs: 7-12

Southland & Otago
Showers for Southland and the Catlins, snow flurries to 400m in the morning then lifting during the day. Coastal Otago has partly cloudy skies, Central Otago has sunnier weather. Fresh westerlies, strong to gale about the coast.
Highs: 9-10
