Friday’s national forecast – Front brushes the east

A front brushes past eastern regions today bringing some cloud and a light shower or two, a shower or two out west also mainly north of Greymouth for the West Coast and north of the Waikato.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Partly cloudy with a shower or two, southwesterly winds. Bay Of Plenty is mainly sunny with winds tending onshore in the afternoon
Highs: 13-17

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
A mix of sun and cloud, southeasterlies develop around midday.
Highs: 11-16

Eastern North Island

Sunny, cloud develops in the morning for Wairarapa then pushes northwards during the afternoon bringing the risk of a light shower as southerlies freshen.
High: 14-15

Wellington

A sunny morning, cloud develops around midday bringing the risk of a light shower, clearing up in the evening. Southerly winds.
High: 13-14

Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny after a frosty start, cloud pushes in during the afternoon. A few light showers or drizzle patches possible for Marlborough. Southeasterlies for Marlborough. Afternoon northerlies for Nelson.
Highs: 14-15

Canterbury

It may be frosty first thing then cloud develops early in the morning as southerlies freshen, there may be a light shower or two then cloud starts to break away from late afternoon as winds tend northeast.
Highs: 13-14

West Coast

Morning showers clear Fiordland then becoming sunny, mainly sunny elsewhere apart from north of Greymouth where there is a few showers. These showers may thin out in the afternoon then come back in the evening. Southwesterlies die out in the morning.
Highs: 14-16

Southland & Otago
Morning showers clear then sunny spells increase, southwesterlies die out in the evening.
Highs: 11-14
