The North Island lies between weather systems today, there could be some morning fog north of the Central North Island. In the evening a low pressure system in the Tasman Sea starts to spread some rain into western regions. The South Island has a westerly airflow, expect showers about Southland and on the West Coast south of about Haast. Showers move north of Haast around midnight.

Auckland & Northland
Sunny spells after any morning fog clears, westerly winds tending northwest in the afternoon. Cloud thickens late afternoon onwards then showers move in later in the evening.

Bay Of Plenty, Waikato & Central North Island
Sunny spells with light winds tending westerly. Cloud thickens up evening onwards then late evening or around midnight showers move in. There could be a few fog patches this morning about the Waikato and Central North Island.
Highs: 14-18

Eastern North Island
Sunny with light winds, some evening high cloud develops. Overnight winds change southwest with a few showers.
High: 18

Western North Island
Morning sunny spells, cloud increases in the afternoon then expect some rain moving into northern Taranaki late afternoon and elsewhere in the evening. West to northwest breezes.
Highs: 14-15

Wellington
Sunny areas and some increasing cloud in the afternoon, northwesterly breezes. Chance of a shower later in the evening.
High: 14

Nelson
West to northwest breezes, sunny with some high cloud. Chance of overnight rain.
High: 14

Marlborough
Mostly sunny with some high cloud from afternoon, light north to northwest breezes. There may be some rain move in overnight.
Highs: 15-16

Canterbury
Sunny with light winds, westerly breezes in inland areas.
High: 14

West Coast
Sunny spells with light winds, south of Haast expect showers with westerly winds. Showers move north of Haast around midnight.
Highs: 11-12

Coastal Otago
Morning sunny areas with westerly winds, around midday winds tend southwest with the odd shower moving in. Westerly winds pick up later in the evening with showers clearing.
Highs: 11

Central Otago
Cloudy spells with westerly breezes, the odd shower also, mainly afternoon. Cool westerly breezes.
Highs: 10

Southland
Occasional showers with brisk cold westerly winds, some small hail possible. Showers pick up in intensity for a time around midnight as winds change more southwest
High: 9
