A westerly airflow continues over the country today while an anticyclone in the Tasman Sea slowly moves eastwards towards Northland. A familiar pattern of showers in the west (mainly for the South Island’s West Coast) and sunny weather in the east continues.

Northland
Chance of showers at times in the west otherwise expect sunny and cloudy spells, light to moderate southwest breezes.
Highs: 14-15

Auckland
Cloudy spells with the odd sunny break now and then, southwest breezes ease in the evening. Chance of a light shower now and then.
Highs: 14-15

Bay Of Plenty
Mostly sunny skies with southwest breezes easing in the evening.
High: 16

Central North Island & Waikato
Cloudy and sunny spells with southwest breezes easing during the day, sunny spells more likely about the Central North Island.
Highs: 11-14

Eastern North Island
Mainly sunny skies with light winds tending southwest for a time in the morning.
Highs: 14-15

Western North Island
Chance of an early morning shower then expect sunny spells to increase from morning, mainly clear skies by late afternoon. West to southwest winds ease.

Sunny with gentle northerly breezes.

Nelson
Sunny with light southwest winds.

Sunny with light winds.

Canterbury
Mostly sunny after a frosty start. Light winds.

Coastal Otago
Chance of a few showers this morning with mostly cloudy skies, sunny spells increase in the afternoon. Gusty westerlies ease.

Sunny spells and some cloud with west to northwest breezes, there may be a brief shower or two this morning spread from the west.

Southland
Showers now and then with gusty westerly winds, easing during the afternoon. Mostly cloudy skies.
