A low continues to sit over the North Island today bringing strong winds in the south and rain, potentially heavy about Wairarapa. About the upper North Island expect cloudy spells with a few showers here and there, many dry areas also. Could be an afternoon thunderstorm or two north of the Waikato. In the South Island things are still fairly calm with a ridge of high pressure, about the upper half expect some cloud and drizzle however.
Northland
Cloudy spells with light winds tending southwest, the odd isolated shower at times especially afternoon which could be heavy and thundery. Sunny periods break through now and then also.

Auckland & Waikato
Cloudy periods with the odd isolated shower, mainly afternoon which could be heavy and thundery. Light winds tend easterly. A few sunny spells break through at times too.

Bay Of Plenty
Showers at times with easterly winds.
High: 14
Central North Island
There could be a morning showers otherwise expect mostly cloudy skies with east to southeast breezes.
Highs: 9-11
Eastern North Island
Periods of rain with easterly breezes, heaviest falls about the Wairarapa.
Highs: 12-14
Western North Island
Cloudy periods with brisk southeasterly winds in the morning then easing during the day. A few sunny spells may break through in the afternoon. Chance of a morning shower also.
Highs: 12-14
Wellington
Rain with gusty south to southeasterly winds.
High: 11
Nelson
Cloudy with southeasterly winds, the odd shower at times especially from midday onwards. The western side of Tasman Bay may remain farily dry.
High: 11-12
Marlborough
Showers turning to rain in the afternoon, gusty cool southeasterly winds. Snow to 600m in the morning then lifting above 800m around midday.
Highs: 10-11
Canterbury
Mostly sunny about South Canterbury and getting into Mid Canterbury, north of Banks Peninsula skies start to cloudy up a little with sunny spells only likely in the morning. Winds are light across the region tending northeasterly. The odd shower is possible at times for the Kaikoura area and overnight this turns to rain with southerly winds picking up a little.

West Coast
Sunny with light winds, there may be some late high cloud for Buller.

Coastal Otago
Sunny with light northeasterlies in the afternoon.
High: 8
Central Otago
Sunny with light winds, frosty morning and night.
Highs: 5-6
Southland
Mainly sunny with light northwesterlies.
High: 10
