Mainly settled for the North Island today under a ridge of high pressure, there could be a morning fog patch or two for some. About the South Island expect a strong northwesterly airflow to develop with some high cloud at times out east. Rain in the west, heavy at times.
Auckland & Northland
Mostly sunny today after any morning fog clears, light southerly breezes dying out in the afternoon. There may be some cloud about eastern Northland which will clear in the afternoon. Chance of a fog patch or two again overnight.

Bay Of Plenty, Waikato & Central North Island
Sunny with light winds, chance of a morning fog patch or two for inland areas. Fog may develop again overnight.
Highs: 15-18
Eastern North Island
Sunny with light winds, there may be some early cloud about the Hawkes Bay which clears. Gisborne sees some morning drizzle clear then becoming sunny there in the afternoon.
High: 17-20
Wellington & Western North Island
Sunny spells, some cloud at times more so about Wellington. Northwest winds, becoming gusty in the afternoon about the capital. Cloud thickens a little later in the evening for the capital also.

Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny with gusty northwesterlies developing in the afternoon, some high cloud possible at times. About Nelson a few areas of cloud develop from afternoon onwards becoming cloudy at night.
High: 15-18
Canterbury
Mostly sunny weather with some morning high cloud clearing. Breezy north to northwest winds, becoming strong inland in the evening then spreading to the coast overnight with gusty winds which may reach gale force at times.
Highs: 17-19
West Coast
Cloudy with scattered rain from morning becoming heavy late afternoon or evening. There could be thunderstorms overnight. Expect brisk northerlies.
High: 13-14
Coastal Otago
Thick morning high cloud clears to a mostly sunny afternoon, breezy north to northwesterly winds. Overnight some high cloud thickens again and there could be a few spots of rain towards dawn on Saturday.
High: 16
Southland & Central Otago
A period of rain in the morning with breezy northwesterlies then clearing around midday, sunny spells develop in the afternoon with winds easing off a little. Cloud increases again in the evening with showers overnight.
Highs: 12-14
