Friday still appears largely settled and frosts are greeting quite a few of us this morning.A few showers rather unexpectedly popped up about Auckland and Coromandel regions last night and overnight.

An approaching front should see cloud and wind build over parts of the West Coast and possibly the far south today.

Southland, Otago and the West Coast

Cloud possibly thickening up later today after early frosts. Nor’ west winds slowly rising about Southland and inland Otago late afternoon or evening. One or two showers could drift up the West Coast.

Highs: 12-15
Lows: -2-5

Canterbury, Marlborough & Nelson
Mostly sunny with frosts morning and night. Pleasant afternoon temperatures with light nor’ east breezes about the coast.

Highs: 13-16
Low tonight: -3 – 4

All of the North Island except Gisborne
Mostly sunny with a few clouds possible during the day.Isolated showers possible about eastern Auckland and the Coromandel.
Cold, frosty conditions for many places in sheltered areas south of Auckland either first thing or moreso tonight. Pleasant daytime temperatures with southerlies dying out otherwise light winds are expected.

Highs: 12-17
Lows: – 1- 7

Gisborne
A few showers clearing throughout the day with cold southerlies easing and dying away.

Highs: 13-15
Lows: 4-7
