A front moves over the country today from the west bringing unsettled weather to most regions, the far south may remain untouched however being mainly dry with sunny spells too.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato, CNI & BOP
The odd shower turns to rain in the afternoon, northeasterly breezes. Rain eases at night. There could be a heavy fall for or two late afternoon or evening.
Highs: 15-19

Eastern North Island
Thickening high cloud with north to northeasterly breezes, chance of some brief evening rain spreading from the west.
Highs: 19-20

Western North Island
Cloudy, the odd shower from afternoon especially north of Taranaki. Northerly breezes.
Highs: 17-18

Wellington
Cloudy with breezy northerlies, the odd spot of rain then afternoon showers which ease again in the evening.
High: 16

Nelson
Rain from morning with the odd heavy fall possible, northerly breezes. Rain eases in the evening then clears overnight.
Highs: 16-17

Marlborough
Thick high cloud with breezy northerlies, some scattered rain develops in the afternoon with northerlies easing.
Highs: 17-18

Canterbury
Sunny periods and some high cloud, winds mainly light tending northeast near the coast. Mid to late afternoon light southwesterlies develop bringing the odd shower, some places may remain fairly dry with sunny spells.
Highs: 16-17

West Coast
Showers with northeasterly breezes, there may be a few isolated heavy falls in the afternoon and evening then clearing overnight.
High: 17

Southland & Otago
A mix of sunny and cloudy spells, light winds tend southerly.
Highs: 14-15
