A weakening front moves north over the South Island today while a ridge lies over the North Island. Becoming mostly sunny this morning for the lower South Island, some rain or showers for the upper half for a time. Mainly dry for the North Island although some late rain or showers for southern parts.
Northland, Auckland, Waikato, CNI & BOP
Sunny areas and some cloud with light west to northwest breezes. Low risk of a brief shower at times otherwise mainly dry. There is a slighty higher chance of a shower in the morning along western coastal areas and for the Central North Island.

Eastern North Island
Sunny and warm with light winds, some high cloud develops after midday. Later in the evening winds change southerly about Wairarapa with some rain, the odd shower moves into Hawkes Bay overnight.

Western North Island
Becoming mostly cloudy in the morning, expect west to northwest breezes. The odd shower about Kapiti and northern Taranaki then becoming a little more widespread in the afternoon. Rain develops later in the evening.

Nelson
Cloudy with northwesterly breezes, showers from midday clear during the evening with a southerly change.
Highs: 18-19
Marlborough & Wellington
High cloud with northwest breezes. Winds change southerly around midday for Marlborough then mid afternoon for Wellington bringing a period of rain which clears in the evening or overnight.
Highs: 18-21
Canterbury
Winds change southerly early in the morning bringing mostly cloudy skies and the odd shower, showers clear early afternoon with southerlies tending easterly, late clear spells.
Highs: 15-16
West Coast
Rain, heavy at first eases then clears during the afternoon. Cloud breaks by evening. Light westerlies.
High: 18
Southland & Otago
Morning cloud clearing to mostly sunny weather, west to southwest breezes ease dying out in the evening. Southland may see a few morning showers which clear.
