Our current anticyclone is a little more mobile then previous high pressure systems. Today it moves out to the east of the country and a gentle northerly airflow develops over the South Island, winds over the North Island are still variable mostly. Expect mostly sunny weather today although there will be a fair bit of cloud about on the West Coast of the South Island and some eastern parts of the North Island.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato, CNI & BOP
Mostly sunny with some cloud, cloud more likely in eastern coastal areas. Expect light east to northeast breezes. Winds more of a moderate speed about Northland. About Bay Of Plenty there is the chance of a morning shower and then again overnight particularly in the western part of the region.
Highs: 22-23

East of the North Island
Mostly sunny with light east to southeast breezes, a few clouds about mainly in the morning. Gisborne may see cloudy periods more frequently during the day with a chance of drizzle morning and night.
Highs: 19-21

Wellington & Western North Island
Sunny with light winds, afternoon sea breezes in coastal areas.
Highs: 18-21

Nelson
Sunny after any morning cloud clears, north to northeast breezes from midday.
Highs: 21

Canterbury & Marlborough
Sunny skies with east to northeast breezes in the afternoon, especially about coastal areas.
Highs: 18-22

West Coast
Cloudy periods especially morning and night, sunny spells breaking through at times. Low risk of a morning drizzle patch.
Highs: 18-19

Southland & Otago
Sunny skies with light winds tending northwest inland, northeasterlies in the afternoon about coastal Otago.
Highs: 17-22
