An anticyclone lies over New Zealand today bringing settled sunny weather to most.

Upper North Island

Mostly sunny and clear skies today with afternoon sea breezes, expect south to southeasterly winds about Northland. Cloudy periods in Gisborne with light southerlies and the chance of a morning shower.
HIGHS: 23-25, 22 for Gisborne.

Lower North Island

Mostly sunny with light winds and afternoon sea breezes, northerlies in Wellington.
HIGHS: 22-24

Upper South Island

Mostly clear and sunny with afternoon sea breezes, some cloud morning and night mainly in the east. Northeasterlies brisk about the Canterbury coastline in the afternoon easing later in the day.
HIGHS: 23-26

Lower South Island

Mostly clear and sunny with west to northwest breezes about Southland and in inland areas, some cloud morning and night on the east coast with sunny weather by day and northeasterlies. Becoming mostly cloudy about Fiordland with northerlies, chance of drizzle overnight.
HIGHS: 21-26

Warmest – The Waikato through to Northland

Windiest – East to northeast winds along the Canterbury coastline will get a bit brisk this afternoon. Southern Fiordland will see increasing northerlies today too strong at times from midday.

Sunniest – Mostly of the country is looking sunny today, some areas may have cloud morning and night or a little cloud in the afternoon but on the whole all of NZ is looking great!

Wettest – About Gisborne there may be a few morning showers. Chance of overnight drizzle in Fiordland too.
