Upper North Island

Cloudy areas with some sunshine at times, longer sunny breaks about the Bay Of Plenty. Winds will be gusty from the southwest possibly strong about Auckland, there is also the chance of the odd shower about mainly in the west but mostly dry weather with prevail.
HIGHS: 17-18 for most. 19-20 about the Bay Of Plenty.

Lower North Island

Mostly cloudy skies with widespread showers this morning, showers also along the east coast. Winds will be from the southwest a bit breezy about Taranaki and along the east coast. Showers becoming more restricted to the east coast in the afternoon with the odd one elsewhere clearing by evening. Showers along the east coast clear at night
HIGHS: Temperatures in the mid teens for most.

Upper South Island

Mostly sunny in Nelson with light southwesterlies, some morning cloud on the West Coast clears to a mostly sunny day with southerly breezes. Any morning showers clear on the east coast becoming restricted to Banks Peninsula then clearing there in the afternoon, sunny areas develop on the east coast during the morning with cold southwesterlies dying out in the evening.
HIGHS: 17 on the West Coast, high teens in Nelson and Marlborough, 13-14 for Canterbury.

Lower South Island

A few showers about the Catlins and coastal Otago easing and clearing early afternoon, a mix of sunny areas and some cloud elsewhere. Cold southwesterlies ease dying out in the evening. Some high cloud may develop about Southland late in the day.
HIGHS: 12-13 for most, 15-16 on the West Coast south of the Glaciers.

As the light rain here in Mapua starts to set in a get gradually heavier I wonder if it’s worth mentioning it to Metservice who are still forecasting sun.
