A west to northwesterly airflow lies over New Zealand today, a few showers out west and mainly dry in the east although early clearing showers are possible Mahia Peninsula northwards.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Partly cloudy, risk of a shower (in the afternoon for Waikato) otherwise mainly dry. The Bay Of Plenty has mostly sunny weather. Westerly winds.
Highs: 14-16

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Sunny after a frosty start, some cloud from afternoon pushes in from the west bringing the risk of a shower. Northwesterlies develop.
Highs: 10-14

Eastern North Island

Any early showers Mahia Peninsula northwards clear, mainly sunny otherwise. Early southwesterlies tend light northeast in the afternoon for Hawkes Bay and Gisborne. Northwesterlies for Wairarapa.
Highs: 14-16

Wellington

Increasing cloud, a few late evening showers (mainly in the north). Northwesterly winds become brisk after midday.
High: 14

Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny, may be a touch of high cloud. Afternoon north to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 14-16

Canterbury

Mostly sunny, some high cloud. Light north to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 14-16

West Coast

Cloudy with the odd shower, rain moves into Fiordland during the morning. North to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 10-13

Southland & Otago
Sunny areas and increasing high cloud, overnight rain as northwest winds change westerly.
Highs: 14-15
