A few showers in the west of the North Island today clear early afternoon however perhaps not clearing till evening south of Waikato through to Kapiti, gusty southwesterlies strong at times ease later in the day dying out at night in some inland areas. Showers about Wairarapa become confined to the coast in the morning, brisk southwesterlies ease at night. Cloudy areas and some sun for Hawkes Bay and Gisborne, the odd shower also mainly just on the coast with cool southwesterlies dying out at night.

Some morning rain in Wellington clears by midday with sunny breaks developing, the odd shower may pop up again in the evening however. Brisk southerlies ease later in the day.

Mostly sunny in Nelson today with a southwest breeze dying off later in the day. Sunny areas and some cloud on the West Coast with westerlies, a few showers may continue to affect southern Fiordland during the day with snow flurries to 400m.

Morning rain or showers clear about Canterbury and Marlborough, cool southwesterlies ease later in the day. Late afternoon and evening a few showers develop the foothills and ranges in both regions from Mid Canterbury northwards, those showers may spread to the coast then will clear at night.

Cool southwesterlies in Southland and Otago strong at times about the coast, showers in Southland with a risk of hail spread into Otago during the morning then clearing at night. Snow flurries to 400m.

High’s in the mid teens today across the North Island, a cooler 13 to 14 for Wellington and some Central North Island areas. A high of 15 for Nelson today, 13 to 14 for Canterbury, Marlborough and the West Coast although South Westland may only experience 12 to 13 degree high’s. Southland and Otago will be chilly on 10 to 11 degrees.
