A low pressure system brews away in the Tasman Sea today meanwhile a northeasterly airflow develops over New Zealand.
Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Sunny areas and increasing high cloud, there may be some early morning low cloud or fog for inland areas. A few showers move into Northland during the evening then spreading elsewhere overnight and turning to rain. Northeasterly winds.
Highs: 20-23
Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mainly sunny weather, some morning cloud possible, perhaps in the form of fog about inland areas then quickly breaking as the morning warms up. Light winds tend onshore in the afternoon (sea breezes).
Highs: 22-24
Eastern North Island
Sunny with easterly winds after midday, some morning cloud for the Wairarapa and during the afternoon expect a few clouds about the ranges.
Highs: 19-22
Wellington
Sunny spells, southeasterly winds.
High: 18
Marlborough & Nelson
Mostly sunny about Nelson, Marlborough sees morning cloud with the risk of a light shower or two then sunny areas increase in the afternoon. Easterly winds for Marlborough, northerlies for Nelson.
High: 19
Canterbury
Sunny spells, isolated showers may develop about the high country late afternoon / evening then clearing. East to northeasterly winds, breezy near the coast.
Highs: 15-17
West Coast
Mostly sunny, cloud thickens from evening then some rain moves in overnight. Light winds tend northerly by midday.
Highs: 19-24
Southland & Otago
Mostly sunny, some cloud about coastal Otago during the day. East to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 16-23
