A ridge brings a settled period of weather to most of New Zealand today however once again not for long, the second half of the day sees a northwesterly airflow strengthen over the South Island. A warm then cold front move onto the lower South Island later in the day.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Mostly sunny with southwesterly winds picking up a little from afternoon, becoming breezy.
Highs: 17-20

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly sunny then cloud increases later in the day, westerlies tend northwest in the evening.
Highs: 14-17

Eastern North Island
A few morning showers clear away (mainly about Gisborne) then sunny areas increase, fresh gusty southwesterly winds gradually ease dying out in the evening.
Highs: 15-17

Wellington
Any morning cloud clears then mostly sunny, some high cloud develops later in the day. Southerlies tend northerly by midday.
High: 15

Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny with some high cloud later in the day, northerly winds.
Highs: 16-18

Canterbury
Mostly sunny with high cloud increasing from afternoon, overnight spots of rain. Northeasterly winds freshen near the coast, tending more northerly inland about the foothills.
Highs: 15-17

West Coast
Morning sun then cloud increases from afternoon bringing the chance of a few light showers, rain moves into South Westland in the evening then pushing northwards overnight. Light winds pick up from the northwest afternoon onwards.
Highs: 14-16

Southland & Otago
Mostly sunny with increasing high cloud, some late afternoon / evening scattered rain as a warm front passes over. North to northwesterly winds for most however tending northeast about coastal Otago.
Highs: 14-19
