A large anticyclone brings fairly settled weather to most of New Zealand today, however an upper pool of cold air may induce some unstable activity about the eastern North Island this afternoon.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
A mix of sun and cloud with southwesterly winds, chance of a shower in the afternoon about the Waikato and Bay Of Plenty otherwise mainly dry.
Highs: 16-17

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly sunny with light winds tending west to southwest in the afternoon, cloud may be a little more frequent in the afternoon about inland eastern hills / ranges.
Highs: 11-15

Eastern North Island
A fairly cloudy day for Gisborne with morning showers then clearing, sunny spells elsewhere with showers developing about inland hills and ranges in the afternoon. Some of these showers may become heavy with thunderstorms and hail then clearing in the evening. Light winds tend onshore in the afternoon.
Highs: 13-15

Wellington
Sunny with north to northwesterly winds.
High: 14

Marlborough & Nelson
Early cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather, some cloud builds about hills / ranges in the afternoon bringing the risk of an isolated shower then clearing evening. Light winds tend north to northwest midday.
Highs: 14-17

Canterbury
Mostly sunny, some afternoon cloud about some inland hills ranges may produce an isolated shower then clearing in the evening. Light winds tend east to northeast after midday.
Highs: 12-14

West Coast
Cloudy areas and the odd shower, light winds tend westerly around midday.
Highs: 12-13

Southland & Otago
Mostly sunny, some afternoon cloud about hills / ranges. Light northwesterlies for most, tending northeast about coastal Otago.
Highs: 13-15
