A westerly airflow lies over New Zealand today, a disturbance in the Tasman Sea moves onto the upper South Island later this afternoon or evening then onto the lower North Island overnight.
Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Sunny spells, chance of a shower or two otherwise expect long dry spells. Westerly winds. The Bay Of Plenty is mainly dry and mostly sunny.
Highs: 17-19
Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly cloudy with the odd shower, becoming a bit more widespread for a time in the afternoon. Overnight some rain moves in. Breezy west to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 12-16
Eastern North Island
Mostly sunny with some high cloud, gradually increasing from afternoon. Overnight spots of rain move into the Wairarapa. West to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 17-20
Wellington
Mostly cloudy, chance of a shower later in the day then some overnight rain. Gusty northwesterly winds.
High: 15
Marlborough & Nelson
Mostly sunny with high cloud increasing from afternoon, some rain develops later in the evening then clearing overnight. North to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 16-17
Canterbury
Mostly sunny with a touch of high cloud, light north to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 14-16
West Coast
Mostly cloudy with occasional showers, some rain moves into Buller late afternoon then clearing overnight. Westerly winds.
Highs: 11-13
Southland & Otago
Cloudy areas for Southland with a shower or two at times, winds fresh from the west. Otago has mostly sunny weather, perhaps some high cloud at times and northwesterly winds.
Highs: 10-13
