Mostly sunny and settled in the North Island, southeasterly winds will tend more east to northeast as the day progresses. In the morning there may be a few showers about Hawkes Bay and Gisborne however they will clear then sunny breaks will increase, there may also be some cloud to start about Northland however it should also clear.

Conditions for fog about the Waikato and Central North Island are good overnight Friday into Saturday, there is a chance it may get into Auckland for a time.

In the South Island cloud will spread north along the West Coast during the day with drizzle in Fiordland from afternoon, northeasterly breezes increase. On the east coast conditions will be mostly sunny with some cloud particularly in the morning, northeasterly breezes will be quite brisk however especially in Canterbury. Sunny weather and some high cloud in Southland, northerly breezes. Sunny in Nelson with light northerlies, a little cloud may drift in from evening.

17 to 18 degrees can be expected about the Bay Of Plenty and Waikato northwards today, also along the west coast from Taranaki through to Kapiti. 14 to 15 degree high’s in most other places however Napier and Gisborne will likely stay in the low double figure range. 13 to 14 degrees for most in the South Island today although about Southland 16 degree high’s are likely. Temperatures in the mid teens for Nelson and Hokitika northwards along the West Coast.
