Upper North Island

Sunny areas and some high cloud, may be an isolated shower late afternoon / evening about some inland areas. Light winds this morning then afternoon sea breezes. Temperatures reaching into the mid to high twenties.

Lower North Island

Morning mid level cloud in the west breaks to sunny areas and some high cloud. Fairly cloudy for Wellington although some sun may break through at times this afternoon, winds from the southeast. The Wairarapa is fairly cloudy today, perhaps a shower this morning. Further north expect cloudy areas, showers this afternoon for the ranges possibly becoming heavy with thunderstorms then spreading towards the coast for a time in the evening. Winds from the east. Temperatures in the mid to high twenties in the west, high teens to low twenties in the east.

Upper South Island

Cloudy with rain or showers, rain for Canterbury is fairly persistent for much of the day especially inland, nearer the coast rain eases to the odd drizzle patch this afternoon. Rain for the West Coast, especially about the main divide is heavy at times. Temperatures reaching into the mid teens in the east, early twenties in the north and west.

Lower South Island

Cloud may break to sunny areas at times this afternoon for Otago, winds breezy from the east or northeast. Southland sees any morning cloud break to mostly sunny weather, easterly breezes. Fiordland has a mainly sunny day with some high cloud. Temperatures in the mid to high teens for coastal / northern Otago. Inland Otago, Southland and Fiordland has temperatures in the low to mid twenties.
