Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Areas of rain develop in the morning then easing to showers in the afternoon, rain may be persistent about northern Taranaki for a time. Northerlies tend northwest after midday. Winds fairly gusty about coastal Taranaki.

Eastern North Island
Thick high cloud, the odd spot of rain spreads into the Wairarapa in the morning then further north around midday. Drying out for the most part by late afternoon. Northerly winds.

Wellington
Some patchy rain with gusty northerly winds, strong through Cook Strait.
High: 18
Marlborough & Nelson
Rain, clearing around midday for Marlborough then some sun breaks through in the afternoon. Nelson sees morning rain ease to showers around midday, showers clear late afternoon. Gusty north to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 19-21
Canterbury
Early spots of rain clear then becoming mostly sunny. Northerlies tend breezy northwest in the afternoon.
Highs: 22-26
West Coast
Rain with heavy falls gradually easing during the day, only a shower or two by evening. Breezy northerly winds tend northwest in the afternoon.
Highs: 15-17
Southland & Otago
Early spots of rain clear then mostly sunny with some high cloud, showers develop early afternoon in Southland then late afternoon for Otago as light winds gradually change southwest. Showers may be heavy with a risk of thunder then clearing at night.
Highs: 18-23
